Esharelife Supports City Harvest in Tackling Hunger Across London

The Guinness World Record Attempt for the World’s Longest Tiramisù placed food at its core, and stood as an extraordinary opportunity to tackle food insecurity within London. Accordingly, Esharelife is immensely proud to announce that we have chosen to support City Harvest in their mission to support individuals in need. Our donation will cover the distribution of 7,500 meals across London, and we are thrilled that an event revolving around culinary tradition allowed us to contribute to tackling food insecurity.

City Harvest was founded in 2014 with the goal of addressing a trio of issues: food insecurity, food waste, and greenhouse gas emissions. Based in London, this charity collects surplus food from various stages of the food chain and redistributes it to over 130,000 people weekly through local organisations such as food banks, refugee hostels, and community kitchens. In a context where the cost of living is soaring and nutritious food is increasingly inaccessible, City Harvest yields the power of community, collaboration, and compassion to “rescue food, people, and planet”. Their locations in both West and South London provide them with efficient access to the city, and their vans on a mission are hard to miss on the roads.

At Esharelife, we aim to support charities that share life in the digital era in a sustainable manner, whether that is economically, socially, or environmentally. We look for approaches to poverty alleviation that allow people to not only survive but also thrive within their community and eventually become self-sufficient. Nutritious food is central to this process: it supports physical and mental activity, and its free distribution allows people in need to get through the day without having to worry about their next meal. This reasoning is central to our choice to donate to City Harvest: thanks to their holistic approach and multi-faceted understanding of food inequality and waste, City Harvest aligns with nine of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals set to be met by 2030. This impact is extended to their collaborators who contribute to the fight towards global equality and prosperity on a healthy planet, and we are proud to be part of this broader network.
