Esharelife Foundation is delighted to announce its contribution to the British Red Cross
Disaster Fund, standing in solidarity with communities affected by the devastating
earthquakes in north-central Venezuela and supporting vital humanitarian efforts on the
ground.
The earthquakes, which struck less than a minute apart, caused widespread destruction,
with lives lost, families displaced, and vital infrastructure severely damaged. Hospitals,
roads, airports, power systems and communication networks were affected, leaving many
communities isolated and in urgent need of assistance.
Through this contribution, Esharelife is helping to strengthen the International Red Cross and
Red Crescent Movement’s humanitarian response, supporting efforts to deliver urgent
assistance, care and protection to people affected by the disaster.
The Venezuelan Red Cross has been at the heart of the response, working tirelessly despite
the impact of the earthquakes on its own facilities and surrounding communities. Its
dedicated teams and volunteers are providing emergency medical care, have been
supporting search and rescue operations, and assisting families who have lost their homes
to find safety and shelter. Many Red Cross volunteers continue their life-saving work while
also experiencing the impact of the disaster within their own communities.
The British Red Cross is supporting this international response through its Disaster Fund,
which enables humanitarian teams to mobilise rapidly when emergencies occur. The
flexibility of the fund means that support can reach communities affected by the earthquakes
in Venezuela now, while also ensuring that Red Cross teams around the world are prepared
and equipped to respond wherever and whenever the next emergency strikes.
The Red Cross response is guided by its fundamental principles of humanity, universality
and neutrality — ensuring that assistance is provided based on need alone, putting people
first and supporting communities regardless of background, nationality or circumstance.
