Success Story: Esharelife in Support of Juliet and Richard with AVSI Kenya

Esharelife is honoured to share the stories of Juliet and Richard, two children who, thanks to our support, were able to complete their secondary school education in Nairobi, Kenya.

AVSI Foundation is a non-profit organisation that implements cooperation and humanitarian aid projects all around the World. Through Esharelife’s support, AVSI Kenya supports children through their education and also equips their families with invaluable skills that allow them to sustain their households in the long-term.

When AVSI arrived in Juliet’s life, her family was struggling with a very small income that was insufficient to support daily living and school fees. AVSI ensured that Juliet completed secondary school, and also provided her mother, Florence, with training in financial savings and participation in microcredit groups. Moreover, following the loss of her father, Juliet received significant emotional support, and AVSI ensured that she could continue engaging in activities she enjoyed, from sports to educational trips. Juliet has now received a government scholarship and will go on to study Accounting at university. Her family’s situation is now significantly more stable, as her mother has been able to save part of the income generated from her small business of making and selling peanut butter.

Upon meeting the team at AVSI, Richard’s family was struggling financially: his widowed mother could not support her children through school, as the wages from her fabrics business were too meagre. AVSI Kenya supported Richard and his siblings, ensuring they received quality education, and Richard became the best-performing student in the school’s national examinations. Moreover, his mother obtained training in financial literacy and business skills, supporting her in her sale of African fabrics. Richard and his family recently  received support from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and have relocated to Australia. His family is now equipped with the tools necessary to realise their dreams in a new life abroad.

We deeply value our partnership with AVSI Kenya, and we remain committed to supporting more children like Juliet and Richard. It is an honour to collaborate with a charity such as AVSI Kenya which shares our values and mission. Thanks to your support, we can continue making sure that children in need have access to quality education.
