Tackling Gender Inequality in Baringo County

The project seeks to tackle the issues of gender inequality in Baringo County, Kenya, by contributing towards the reduction of cases of female genital mutilation(FGM), child, early and forced marriages (CEFM), gender-based violence(GBV) and illiteracy, by promoting access to education and enhancing the source of livelihood.

This project is needed to address some consequences of cultural practices that are used as a disguise for oppression of girls and women and unfortunately contributing further to high levels of poverty within the community of Tiaty sub county.

It addresses the concern of high illiteracy levels by promoting access to education and enhancing the source of livelihood for poor households emphasising on women empowerment.

This project benefits directly, 200 girls for protection against FGM and CEFM and education, 50 boys on access to education, and 100 women and 50 men for enhancement of source of livelihood, with indirectly serving local administrations and schools.
