On the 9th July, Esharelife Trustee Mr Neil Ancell visited Acorn Farm in Merseyside, a charity dedicated to the development and wellbeing of people with special educational needs, as well as the wider community. Neil was warmly welcomed by CEO of Acorn Farm Tracy Tremble and its Chairman Christopher Roderick soon after the farm’s impressive 50th anniversary. The visit marked another step forward in the ongoing collaboration between Esharelife Foundation and one of its more recent beneficiaries.
Acorn Farm operates through a community-centred approach that seeks to enrich and further the lives of many through a hands-on learning environment. The farm offers a myriad of daytime support activities that include: horticulture, farm maintenance, animal care and youth volunteering on weekends. The training and employment opportunities provided through these activities are particularly targeted to individuals with special educational needs and learning disabilities, and the farm operates closely with schools and local groups to provide over 100 placements to the local community.
During Neil’s visit, he was able to observe the time and dedication put in by all the wonderful staff and volunteers at the farm, as well as, the invaluable work that they do daily. Acorn Farm caters to the wellbeing and maintenance of the farm’s natural environment, animals and its own staff and volunteers, as well as, providing superb and exceptional experiences and memories to visitors from all around.
Based in Knowsley, Acorn Farm continues to create lasting impact in one of the UK’s most deprived areas. The charity’s interactive and practice-based learning approaches ensure that long-lasting and sustainable change is enacted, with Chairman Christopher Roderick’s own son having previously been a regular visitor, over 29 years ago. The farm’s commitment to an interactive educational environment resonates with the numerous grassroots organisations supported by Esharelife.
Esharelife is honoured to stand alongside Acorn Farm as one of our newest collaborations and excited to introduce them to our ever-growing family of beneficiaries. We are truly grateful to all the staff at Acorn Farm, and to our supporters, whose generosity ensures that lives continue to be transformed and communities are made stronger.
