Prof Maurizio Bragagni Esq OBE – Trustee and Chairman

Prof Maurizio Bragagni ESQ OBE, together with his wife Alessandra Romeo, are the co-founders of the Esharelife Foundation.  He is also Chairman of the Foundation and shares the role of the proposed responsible person and safeguarding responsibilities led by  Mr Neil Ancell.

Prof Bragagni set up the Esharelife Foundation with the aim of supporting children, women, and young people in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world. He strongly believes in the values of good quality education and only through it, it will be possible to drive positive change in the world. 

The foundation supports multiple charities and multiple projects at the same time in order to make the world a better and safer place.

Prof Maurizio Bragagni’s commitment to valuing and promoting good quality education is derived from his personal background. Indeed, he is an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow of management at the Bayes Business School, City University of London, where he concentrates his time on the study of sustainability strategy. He is also Visiting Professor for the Institute of Management and Leadership at the University of Bolton, where he develops leadership in challenging sustainable strategies and studies the contribution of private and public UK companies in their CO2 net-zero emissions commitment. 

Moving from Italy to the UK in 2000, he started to work as an ordinary worker in the factory of Tratos UK Ltd, a cable manufacturer, while at night he mastered English language skills.  Nowadays, he holds the position of CEO and leads everyday operations of the company, which successfully is expanding in the UK and becoming one of the leaders within the cable industry. Under his leadership and vigorous work, the company won the Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2019 for one of its most advanced cables. 

A successful entrepreneur with strong commercial and business acumen, Prof Bragagni has proven also his diplomatic skills. In 2019 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino to the UK and Northern Ireland, a duty he is carrying on with great passion and has achieved so many important things in strengthening further friendly bilateral relations between the two countries. 

In his entrepreneurial, political, charitable, and educational commitment, Prof Bragagni has always intended to build and maintain strong, powerful and friendly relationships between Italy, his country of origin, the UK, and San Marino. For his services to these countries,  Prof Bragagni was appointed Knight of the Italian Republic by the Italian President in 2018, Freeman of the City of London by the Company of Communicators in October 2020,  Officer of the British Empire (OBE) for voluntary political and business services by Her Majesty the Queen in June 2021 and Knight Grand Officer of the Equestrian Order of Saint Agatha of the Most Serene Republic of San Marino in recognition of his merits during the Covid-19 emergency relief to the Republic of San Marino in March 2022.

Chartered Director and Fellow Member of the Institute of Directors, Prof Bragagni now exercises his roles in full compliance with the IoD Code of Professional Conduct. He is keen to implement an appropriate governance structure within every organisation he works for, accompanied by robust financial management and strong control of leadership and strategy. His strong leadership skills were further enriched by successfully completing the 2021 Leadership Programme of the Centre for Charity Effectiveness (CCE), BAYES Business School, City University.

Advocating the importance of reforming the carbon tax in achieving a green economic recovery, he participated in the COP26 meeting where the world leaders have made ambitious pledges and commitments to preserving the future of our planet. 

In addition to his successful business career, Prof Maurizio Bragagni has written several books and articles on various topics, starting from the family business and sustainable development to the importance of giving back to society and the development of leadership and advancing research in fields such as circular economy, energy security, reforming the tax system and achieving net-zero emissions commitments.

Prof Bragagni collaborates closely with the Esharelife Trustees, Patrons, Testimonials, Ambassadors, and volunteers to discover fresh and creative methods of expanding Esharelife’s network. The goal is to enhance the Foundation’s positive influence on partner organizations, communities, and the individuals it supports.
